When Emily and Jack first connected on Tinder, little did they know they’d already been orbiting in the same social circles through mutual friends. Sometimes the best love stories begin with a swipe right, and theirs is proof that modern romance can lead to timeless celebrations.

A Beachside Proposal

After a wonderful day at Goodwood races with Emily’s family, Jack had something special planned. As they all gathered on Felpham beach with glasses of Prosecco in hand, he asked Emily for a picture. In that perfect moment, surrounded by the people who love them most, Jack got down on one knee and proposed. It was intimate, spontaneous, and utterly romantic – setting the tone for everything that would follow.

Finding Their Perfect Venue

For Emily, finding the right wedding venue was remarkably straightforward. After seeing a recommendation for Selden Barns on Facebook, they booked a viewing – and that was that. “It was the only venue we visited,” Emily recalls. “It was exactly what I had envisioned what I would want my wedding venue to look like.”

From the moment they arrived, Emily was captivated. “How beautiful it was! Tucked away from the main road, quiet, in the countryside but modern. I liked the barn was beautiful without having to do too much inside.” Nikki’s warm welcome during their viewing sealed the deal, and with space for their 130 guests and on-site accommodation for immediate family, they knew they’d found their perfect match.

An Elegant Vision in Champagne and Dusky Pink

Emily’s vision for their day was elegant and classic, brought to life through a beautiful colour palette of champagne and dusky pink. Like many modern brides, she found inspiration on Pinterest, carefully curating ideas that would make their celebration uniquely theirs.

The five bridesmaids looked stunning in champagne-coloured dresses from WED2BE in Brighton, with two different styles that complemented each other beautifully. Emily’s own dress from Wedding Frox was paired with a veil from the same designer and jewellery from Pandora. Meanwhile, Jack stood out from his seven groomsmen in an emerald green suit from Greys suit hire in Worthing, whilst his groomsmen wore oat-coloured suits that perfectly matched the bridesmaids.

Personal Touches That Made It Theirs

Emily and Jack infused their celebration with thoughtful DIY elements that made the day truly special. A crisp wall and brownie table delighted guests, but perhaps the most touching moment came courtesy of Emily’s daughter. They recorded her voice in advance, and as Emily prepared to walk down the aisle, her daughter’s words filled the barn – a moment that left hardly a dry eye in the house.

Emily created their own stationery, adding another layer of personalisation, whilst a family friend baked their Victoria sponge wedding cake. Jack made quite an entrance too, arriving in a Maserati that turned heads and set the tone for celebration.

A Ceremony Filled with Love

The ceremony took place in Selden Barns’ beautiful barn, with Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “Everlasting Love” providing the perfect soundtrack. Their wedding singer, Lullaweddings, performed throughout the ceremony, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and joyous.

Walking down the aisle to her daughter’s pre-recorded voice was the most emotional moment for Emily. “Sharing the moment with my 2 girls and new husband” was what made the day truly perfect for her.

A Celebration to Remember

The reception was relaxed, fun, and completely stress-free – exactly what Emily and Jack had hoped for. Guests enjoyed a delicious roast chicken meal from Ren’s Kitchen, whilst Luxe Productions kept the dance floor busy throughout the evening. The couple’s first dance to “Amazed” by Lone Star was “the only one we could agree on!” Emily laughs.

One of the day’s lovely surprises was their wedding singer staying for the entire celebration, creating a soundtrack of live music that enhanced every moment. The whole day was filled with laughter and smiles, with Emily finding it impossible to pick just one favourite moment – “I can’t pick one – the whole day!!”

Words of Wisdom

For couples planning their own Selden Barns wedding, Emily’s advice is simple but valuable: “Let Selden Barns help as much as they offer (which is a lot) – they took a lot of pressure off.” She emphasises how the team supported them “from the night before to the end of the wedding day, they helped with anything we asked. Nothing was too much bother.”

Looking back, Emily wouldn’t change a thing. “My day and the lead up was amazing,” she reflects. The relaxed atmosphere, the beautiful setting, and the support from the Selden Barns team combined to create exactly the celebration they’d dreamed of.
