Tucked away along a peaceful country lane in the heart of West Sussex, Selden Barns is a place where time slows, and romance fills the air. Ancient flint and brick buildings appear through the trees, horses graze in nearby fields, and with every turn up the driveway, excitement builds — this is where your forever begins.
With three exquisite ceremony spaces, Selden Barns offers something for every couple. Exchange vows in the rustic, timber-raftered Ceremony Room, where soft light dances across polished wood. Say “I do” beneath the elegant Sussex Oak Pergola, surrounded by nature and birdsong. Or celebrate in the open air on the Front Lawn, framed by fruit trees and rolling countryside views.
After your ceremony, enjoy drinks, canapés, and garden games within the walled garden — a private haven of dappled sunlight and laughter. It’s the perfect setting for your first photographs as newlyweds.
Then, as the celebration continues, step into the Reception Barn — and prepare for that breathtaking wow moment. Under sweeping ivory drapes, sparkling chandeliers, and fairy lights, the space is truly magical. A floor-to-ceiling window frames the fields beyond, while the mahogany bar, once part of a Victorian chemist’s shop, adds warmth and charm.
With dining, dancing, and the bar all in one space, your guests can celebrate together from day to night. As evening falls, uplighters cast a soft glow, and guests drift onto the terrace to enjoy drinks beneath the stars — the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Bridal preparations
The morning of your wedding deserves somewhere special, and our beautiful Getting Ready Room is exactly that – peaceful, spacious, and effortlessly stylish. We have created a space that works perfectly with room for all your glam stations, comfy seating for your chosen guests, and plenty of space to relax. Toast with champagne, and enjoy those precious hours before you say ‘I do’.
Wedding ceremony
Selden Barns benefits from three licensed ceremony spaces. Choose from the beautiful Old Ceremony Room, located in a converted barn adjoining the main house, which seats up to 100 guests and features timber rafters, chandeliers, and fairy lights.
Alternatively, you may wish to get married in our beautiful walled garden setting, surrounded by fruit trees, or under our stunning Sussex Oak Pergola, which offers breathtaking views.
Once you have booked the date for your wedding at Selden Barns, couples must contact the registration service directly (that’s the legal requirement!) to make registrar arrangements.

Evening Celebrations
As evening falls and your celebration comes alive, you and your guests can drift onto the cosy terrace, glasses in hand, to savour those final golden hour moments before the sun melts into the horizon. In the cooler months, the soft glow of firepits and the gentle warmth of outdoor heaters create an intimate, enchanting atmosphere.
Inside, the music begins to build — whether you choose a live band or DJ, your loved ones will fill the raised dancefloor, surrounded by laughter, joy, and the clink of glasses from the bar. Capture the magic in the photo booth, share delicious late-night bites, and dance together beneath the lights until your feet can dance no more.

A place to stay
All guest bedrooms have their own private front door and exude a lovely fresh `English Country` feel, with oak floors, cream ‘Egyptian cotton’ bedding with fluffy duvets and traditional furniture. They have en-suite facilities with a large shower, WC and washbasin and under-floor heating throughout.
2 Family Rooms – Each features a spacious king-size bed, a private en-suite bathroom with a shower, and an additional bedroom with bunk beds suitable for children up to 16 years of age.
- The Annex Family Room – Featuring a king-size bed with a private bathroom, complete with bath, and an additional bedroom featuring twin beds.
- 1 Twin Room – Featuring two single beds and a private bathroom.
- 4 Double Rooms – Offering a king-size bed and en-suite facilities.
- The Gatehouse – Our superior double room featuring an emperor size bed, roll top bath, ensuite bathroom with shower, and an attractive private garden.
